The last mile of a great evening
Most Side holidays are planned to the minute — flights, transfers, tours — and then the simplest trip of all gets improvised nightly: how do we get to dinner and back? Here is the honest map of your options.
Option one: the dolmuş
The coastal minibus is cheap, frequent in season and part of the Türkiye experience. Perfect for early evenings and flexible plans. Its limits: late-night frequency thins, and a family of five with a pushchair is not its happiest cargo.
Option two: taxis
Always available around the resorts and Side centre, fine for short hops. For the far ends of the coast — Gündoğdu to the west, Kızılot and Çenger east — agree the return pickup in advance; midnight kerbside roulette is nobody's favourite game.
Option three: the restaurant brings you in
The quiet trend on the Side coast: restaurants running their own guest shuttles. The strongest example we know is Hawaii Restaurant & Bar in Side's old town, which runs a free round-trip pickup from selected hotels — and an affordable two-way transfer where the free zone ends. For dinner-plus-karaoke evenings, door-to-door with the ride pre-arranged is the relaxed way to do it: one WhatsApp with your hotel name settles the whole night's logistics.
Option four: private transfer
For groups, special occasions or airport-day dinners, a booked private transfer gives you fixed times and fixed prices — that is our own daily bread. The evening rule of thumb: fix the return before you leave, whichever option you ride, and the night instantly relaxes.
The one-line summary
Early casual evening → dolmuş. Short hop → taxi. Dinner as the night's event → a restaurant with its own pickup, or a booked private ride. Feet up, evening on.
